— On August 30, 1991, Bellwood-Antis rolled over the Tyrone Golden Eagles 35-0. Only the 1953 (39) and 1954 (36) have scored more points in the 65-game series between the two backyard neighbors.
— Tyrone had the added task of learning a new system for new head coach John Schonewolf, who was returning to the head job at Tyrone after previously coaching the Eagles in 1964 and 1965.
— Bellwood-Antis scored on their first drive with quarterback Jamie Bollinger getting the TD on a 10-yard scamper. A Troy Lardieri reverse covered 21 yards and Karl Montanaro bulled 31 more a play later. On the PAT, B-A caught the Eagles napping when the center picked the ball up and tossed it to Montanaro for the “muddle-huddle” play for two-points.
— In the second quarter, Lardieri, back to punt, tucked the ball away and raced 15 yards for a first down. Frank Pulcinello banged 11 yards and Bollinger completed a 20-yard TD pitch to a wide-open Montanaro. When that play was called back because of a penalty, Bollinger calm;ly went back and found junior split end Mike Kensinger for a 24-yard score.
— Bellwood-Antis added to their TD-a-quarter pace and edded a safety for a 22-0 advantage after three periods. Bollinger tripped over his own feet at the Eagles-3 to prevent a B-A touchdown, but on the next series, the B-A defensive line trapped juniot quarterback Tony Sharer in his own end zone for a two-point safety.
— Montanaro picked up a gain of 12 yards and after a 15-yard penalty, carried three straight times, including th three-yard TD.
— Brent Abbott recovered a fumble for the Blue Devils at the T-30. Eric Aposhian ran the final dozen yards, but fumbled into the end zone, where big B-A offensive lineman Chris Holes fell on it for a TD. Dave Endress added the PAT kick to increase the score to 29-0.
— On the next series, Eric Hoover picked up 21 yards on three ruing palys that included Tyrone’s firt first down of the game at the 8:40 mark of the fourth quarter.
— With the B-A reserves in the game, Bellwood-Antis marched 57 yards for the final score. Fellow sophomores Shawn Ross and Comanche Garcia pushed the ball to the T-5 with runs of 28 for Ross and 33 more by Garcia. Ross got the call twice in a row, including the two-yard score.
— Despite three turnovers and an errant pass from center on a punt attempt, Bellwood-Antis maintained their composure to turn back backyard rival Tyrone 20-7, at Bellwood Memorial Stadium, on August 30, 1985.
— Hard-running tailback Don “Booker” Moore churned out 117 yards on 26 carries and slotback Adam Claar added 84 on just seven totes as Bellwood-Antis reeled off 51 rushing plays from scrimmage in shredding the Eagles defense for 268 yards.
— Tyrone meanwhile was thwarted at nearly every turn by the Blue Devil defense, mustering only 61 yards rushing and 30 passing for just 91 yards total offense. Although able to hold onto a slim 7-6 lead until near the end of the third quarter, Tyrone did not register a first down after the seven-minute mark of the second quarter for the rest of the game.
— An interception by Ken Young gave B-A their first scoring opportunity. B-A senior quarterback Don Park took his team from midfield for a score in eight plays, rolling to his right on fourth down and connecting with Moore for a five-yard TD pass with 6:18 used in the opening quarter. Moore set up the six pointer with gains of 11 and 10 yards during the march.
— Tyrone moved the sticks three times for first downs in the next series, but stalled at the BA-32. Then taking over after the Blue Devils ended up with a 15-yard loss on a snap from center on a punt attempt with Brian Snyder and Kevin Ferner nailing Claar before he was able to get a punt off at the BA-22. Tyrone quarterback Tim Golden fired a pass to Steve Weyer for 19 yards and then scored the TD on a sneak. Tim Stringer’s PAT kick gave the Eagles a 7-6 lead.
— Bellwood-Antis squandered a good chance for another first-half score when TD-bound Bob Noye lost the handle and Jamie Yingling recovered the fumble for Tyrone in the Eagle endzone.
— B-A was on the move early in the third quarter again with Moore, Claar and Jack Dorminy moving the Blue Devils to the T-18 before Eagle D-back Craig Hammond intercepted a pass.
— Bellwood-Antis regrouped and drove 44 yards for their second TD to finally get back on top. Claar covered the final 25 yards for the touchdown with Park throwing a key block on the corner to spring his teammate. A pass for two-points failed, but the Blue Devils led 12-7 in the closing minutes of the third quarter.
— Midway through the final period, Dorminy, a junior, returned a punt 14 yards to the Eagle-42. Although slowed by a holding penalty, B-A drove the distance for an insurance score that gave Bellwood-Antis a 20-7 advantage with only 2:36 to play. Claar ripped off an 11-yard gain and later added a key five-yard run for a first down on a fourth-and-four call. Noye was not to be denied this time crashing in for the 11-yard TD and after another penalty erased a first success, Park connected with Moore for the 2-Pt. PAT.
