— Bellwood-Antis improved the record to 3-2 on October 1, 1982, for coach John Hayes with a 41-0 win over Tussey Mountain at Bellwood Memorial Stadium. The Blue Devils opened up a three-touchdown lead in the first quarter against Tussey and cruised to the win.
— Tussey coughed up the football on the third play of the game and standout linebacker Jerry Potts was there to fall on the football at the Titan-34. Six plays later, Potts completed the drive by bulling one yard for the TD. Wally Rossi, who was kicking in place of Tim Kovac, who was out with the flu, booted the first of five extra points.
— Tussey managed just two yards in three plays and had to punt and Potts broke through to block the kick. Two plays later, John Youngkin dove for the four-yard TD and Rossi kicked the PAT.
— Again the B-A defense held Tussey Mountain to three downs and out and the Blue Devils quickly followed with another score. Completing a 57-yard march, tailback Steve Miller burst up the middle for 22 yards and the TD.
— Tussey then took their only scoring threat of the game from their own 28 to the BA-3, before Rick Kensinger fell on a fumble to end the drive. The fans had barely settled back in their seat following the second-half kickoff, when B-A quarterback Bob Gill found Ken Campbell all alone for a 71-yard pass play that took the ball to the TM-4. Miller blasted in for the TD on the next play and RossiÕs PAT gave the Blue Devils a 28-0 margin.
— Due to injuries in 1981 and in the preseason in ’82, Don Stiffler was playing in his first game in two years. Stiffler scored the final two TDs on runs of four and 41 yards and was the leading ball carrier with 93 yards on 15 carries. Gill completed six of eight passes for 160 yards and Miller added 58 yards on just nine carries.
— Head coach Jim Gardner took over just a week prior to the beginning of fall practice in 1976, due to the untimely and late resignation of former coach Steve Hayes. After enduring four straight losses at the start of the season, Bellwood-Antis defeated Tussey Mountain 13-6 on October 1, 1976 for their second win to improve to 1-4 for the season.
— After playing the first four games of the season on the road, the Blue Devils survived eight fumbles to prove Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” was not the only one to find out that “there’s no place like home.”
— Scott Hoffer capped a 13-play, 85-yard drive for the Blue Devils’ first score, capping the march with a one-yard plunge for the score with just over three minutes left in the opening quarter. Then late in the second quarter, a fumble recovery gave B-A possession at the Titans-15. Four plays later, Joe Schreckengost bulled in for another one-yard touchdown and then kicked the extra point for a 13-0 lead.
— Late in the game, a B-A fumble was recovered by Tussey at the BA-15. Going against a determined Blue Devil defense, Tussey Mountain took seven plays to score their only TD of the game.
— The Bellwood-Antis football team powered their way to their fourth straight win of the season on October 1, 1954, smashing Osceola Mills 41-0. The Blue Devils opened the season by knocking off Tyrone 36-7 and then recorded shutouts over Moshannon Joint 33-0, Huntingdon 33-0, and then Osceola Mills.
— Bellwood-Antis wasted no time in continuing to steamroll over the opposition. Fred Maurer sliced off left tackle for a 26-yard TD to set the Mainline Express in motion early and Albert “Chub” Dillen tacked on the PAT kick. Later in the opening quarter, Dick Hummel used that same off-tackle play to plunge in for a one-yard score and Dillen’s kick gave the Blue devils a 14-0 advantage early.
— The second period was all Dillen. The B-A senior, who owns the school record for TDs (66) and points (454) by a wide margin, would lead Blair County in scoring for the third straight year at the end of 1954. Chub scored twice in the second quarter on runs of 15 and 11 yards and kicked both PATs.
— In the third quarter, Ray Rossi scampered around end, shook off several would-be tacklers and raced 65 yards for a touchdown. Later in the quarter, Dillen fielded a punt at his own 33, picked up some blockers and rambled 67 yards for the final score of the game, adding the extra point. It was the 15th straight win for B-A under head coach Elwood Petchel, who in two years at Bellwood-Antis, never lost a game.
