— On Saturday, October 27, 1990, Juniata Valley tried to get in a little trick and treating, but Bellwood-Antis refused to allow a slow start to hurt themselves, swatting the Hornets 32-6.
— Bellwood-Antis took advantage of a fumble recover by B-A lineman Gerald Whitaker at the JV-21 early in the first quarter. Quarterback Jason Cornmesser hooked up with slotback Bo Lardieri behind the Valley secondary for a 17-yard touchdown pass and a 6-0 lead.
— Juniata valley then took over seven minutes off the clock to score the tying TD on a long 18-play drive.
— The B-A defense made an adjustment however, and led by Chris Himes, Andy Mock, Gabe McClellan, Gerald Whitaker, Jamie Gummo and Chris Holes, Juniata Valley was limited to just 56 total yards for the rest of the contest.
— The Blue Devils lit the scoreboard up two more times before halftime.
— First, Chris McCartney, who in the summer of 1991 would become the only B-A athlete to participate in the Big 33 Game at Hershey, dashed 43 yards for a touchdown and the McCartney capped an eight-play march scoring from three-yards out. Key plays in the second drive was an 11-yard gain by Lardieri, which pushed Lardieri past the 1,000-yard career rushing mark and a 13-yard scamper by McCartney, who a week later against Bedford would go over the 3,000-yard rushing mark. McCartney held the B-A career rushing mark until present senior Josh Kleinfelter, who need 104 yards to pass the 5,000-yard mark this week, raced by McCartney as a junior.
— A shanked punt and personal foul penalty gave Bellwood-Antis the ball at the JV-12 in the third quarter and McCartney carried all four times, including the two-yard TD.
— Juniata Valley punted to the BA-27, and the Blue Devil offense took over there. McCartney, who rushed 24 times for 239 yards, broke through the right side of the line and outraced his pursuit for 73 yards and his fourth tally of the afternoon and 22nd of the season. McCartney had three 200-yard rushing games, and would add number 4 a week later in the regular season finale against Bedford. Only Kleinfelter who got his seventh against Moshannon Valley last week has more at B-A.
— On Saturday, October 27, 1984, Bellwood-Antis outgunned Juniata Valley 56-20. It was an unusually warm late October day, that featured back-to-back kickoff returns for touchdowns and three TDs scored in just 26 seconds. The game featured 85 yards in one half and a total of 100 yards in penalties for Bellwood-Antis, and the return for the first time in five games of Jimmy Woodring. Though it was nearly Halloween, the afternoon game drew sweat from the fans in the bright sun. (Or at least from one correspondent anyway, who sat outside of the pressbox and enjoyed the game and the afternoon in the sun.)
— Obviously, Juniata Valley didn’t pay much attention to the Blue Devils newspaper clippings, with Bellwood-Antis clinging to a 21-20 at halftime. Bellwood-Antis struck early when Don “Booker” Moore scored from the JV-three and stead Steve Miller booted the PAT.
— Hornet returner Mike Smith, present-day head coach at Juniata Valley, then a member of the team, motored 95 yards for a score on the ensuing kickoff. Bellwood-Antis sophomore Adam Claar quickly countered that score by blasting 82 yards with Juniata Valley’s kickoff for a touchdown. In the second half, it was a completely different story, with the B-A defense holding Juniata Valley scoreless and the Blue Devils offense tacking on five TDs to complete the victory for head coach John Hayes in his third year at B-A.
— Woodring scored on runs of three, 16 and four yards finishing with 12 carries for 102 yards, while Moore added 11 and 18-yard TDs and gained 160 yards on 19 carries, his fifth straight 100-yard effort. Paul Caracciolo completed four of eight passes for 47 yards and scored on a one-yard keeper.
— Moore led the way for Bellwood-Antis, who finished 8-2 in 1984, with 8-5 yards, and Woodring (497), Adam Claar (415) and Mark Halbedl (403) all rushed for more than 400 yards. Caracciolo completed 31 of 67 passes for 661 yards, with 10 interceptions and eight TDs after taking over signal calling in the third game of the year. Steve Miller, a two-way lineman as a junior, moved out to tight end to lead the receiving corps with 17 catches for what was then a school-record 454 yards. Miller scored eight TDs and kicked two field goals and 37 PATs for 91 points to become the first end to lead Bellwood-Antis in scoring since Arlis “Art” Claar in 1944.
— Bellwood-Antis scored a trio of touchdowns before Central could finally dent the Blue Devils end zone on Saturday, October 27, 1961 at Roaring Spring. The Blue Devils traded touchdowns with the Scarlet Dragons after those first two scores to post a 19-6 for head coach Chet Dillen and assistant Bob Fowler.
— The first TD came on a Johnny Moffa one-yard touchdown that capped a 13-play, 65-yard drive. Moffa also had the big play during the march, a 20-yard scamper that moved the pigskin from midfield to the C-30.
— Sophomore Bill Cherry switched with Fred Swoboda from fullback to halfback and set up the Blue Devils second score. Cherry romped 55 yards to the Dragons-22. Two plays later, Moffa dashed 22 yards for the score and Cherry ran in the extra point.
— Following an exchange of punts in the fourth quarter, an interception put the ball in the Blue Devils’ hands at the Central-25. Four plays later, Moffa crashed over from the one to put Bellwood-Antis in front 19-0.
— Central recovered a fumble at the BA-20 late in the game and pushed in their solo touchdown after a seven-play series. Moffa carried for 141 yards on 27 totes, and Cherry added 122 yards on 11 carries.
